Historical Research
The Goulbourn Museum's History Centre is an excellent source of information for people interested in researching Goulbourn's past. Whether you are researching your ancestors, looking into the history of a historic property, or completing a school project about your community's past, the Goulbourn Museum can provide you with useful information. Our resources include History Files, Family Files, Goulbourn Township records, census records, cemetery listings, local newspaper articles, and a large collection of historic photographs, which can be restored and reproduced.

You can visit the History Centre during Museum hours. Museum staff and volunteers are on hand to facilitate your research, suggesting appropriate sources and documents. Alternatively, the Museum conducts a research service by means of which you can request information about a particular topic. Staff and volunteers sort through the Museum's holdings, and mail you an information package in a number of weeks.

Although a small rural undertaking, the Goulbourn Museum is forward looking and continues to work toward the digitization of its archives. All original documents and early photographs are digitally scanned or photographed onto computers to ensure state-of-the-art preservation. Quality photograph reprints can be supplied on request.

Our original document collection continues to expand, as local families donate items to the Museum.
